It makes sense that if you become a better version of yourself, you can also become better at your profession. We talked about that in part 1 of this article. If you found the first three tips useful, here are three more.

Hearing and listening are not the same things. Actually, paying attention —also called 'active listening'— is tremendously important when you're dealing with people every day, and as an independent insurance agency owner, this should be at the top of your priority list.

It's not uncommon for insurance professionals to be very extroverted people who love to talk, but sometimes, that love for conversation makes them forget about the importance of listening. If you're unable to truly listen to what your clients are saying, how can you be sure you're recommending the right solutions for their insurance needs?

Make sure you take the time to listen to what your clients are saying, confirm if what you heard is right, and clarify as needed. With this information, you are better equipped to respond to their needs in a more efficient manner.

Tackle Your Least Favorite Task First

Let's be honest. Everyone has a dreaded task, or several, which are usually left for you to do after you've done everything else.

Unfortunately, procrastinating has a way of backfiring, so it ends up making you more anxious and less productive than you had estimated. Face those tasks early in the morning, check them off your list before anything else and then, go about your day. You'll feel like you accomplished more and be more relaxed to do what's left.

Develop a Consistent Sleep Pattern

Not getting enough sleep will definitely take a toll on your productivity and your overall mindset for facing the day. Sleeping less than recommended can make you anxious, weakens your immune system, and inhibits your ability to focus.

Having a consistent sleep pattern is essential if you want to wake up refreshed and ready to get things done. Start by defining a sleeping schedule. It's a good practice to have a bedtime routine and to wake up at the same time every day. There are situations that might throw off your schedule but try to stick to it as much as possible.
